Womenswear Designer

The position is part of UNIQLO’s R&D Department, which is responsible for commercializing the LifeWear concept—clothing designed to improve everyday life for people of all backgrounds. Designers and pattern makers are based in six global hubs (Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, London, New York, and Los Angeles), with Tokyo as the central base.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apparel Design: Includes outerwear, bottoms, shirts, cut-and-sew, sweaters, innerwear, loungewear, and dresses.
• Product Research: Investigating trends, materials, and user needs.
• Proposal Development: Presenting ideas at product meetings.
• Styling & Composition: Planning seasonal and monthly styling and product composition.

Required Skills:

Required:

• At least 5 years of experience in designing women’s apparel.
• Experience managing the entire product lifecycle—from planning and design to production.
• Strong communication skills in Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent).

Preferred:

• CAD proficiency is a plus.
• English communication skills at TOEIC 700+ level or willingness to improve beyond daily conversation.
